Brief:
Bring together 3 energy coops under a new cohesive umbrella brand and build a new website, optimising user journeys and increasing community awareness.

Westmill Energy is a newly established umbrella cooperative that unites three renewable energy co-ops—Westmill Wind, Westmill Solar, and WeSET.

While each cooperative had a strong individual identity, they needed a unified brand and website to represent their collective mission while still respecting the unique voices of each organisation. The challenge was to create an identity that felt cohesive, welcoming, and reflective of the community-driven nature of Westmill Energy, while also ensuring that stakeholders from all three co-ops had input throughout the process.

To develop a strong and inclusive brand, we conducted an online workshop with key stakeholders using interactive FigJam boards. This allowed us to map out the website structure, define user journeys, and refine messaging. Through a mini brand workshop, we identified the desired audience and established a more engaging and vibrant visual identity. The new brand introduced a brighter colour palette, extended its visual language beyond just the logo, and incorporated playful yet professional design elements. These updates ensured that Westmill Energy stood out while maintaining a sense of warmth, accessibility, and community spirit.

For the website, we created an interactive Figma prototype, enabling stakeholders to review, test, and provide feedback collaboratively. This helped streamline decision-making and keep the project on track. The design incorporated the new brand elements, including custom illustrations, iconography, and collage-style imagery sourced from the client’s library. Built using Beaver Builder on WordPress, the site was structured with flexible content blocks, giving Westmill Energy full control over future updates. The result is an intuitive and engaging platform that effectively communicates the cooperative’s mission and invites greater community participation.
